A Tough Night for Lubuskie Volleyball Teams – Astra and Olimpia Suffer Defeats

A challenging night for Astra Nowa Sól, as they faced ChKS Chełm, the unbeaten leaders of Poland’s PLS 1. Liga, and suffered a 0-3 loss. Despite a spirited effort, particularly in the second set, Astra couldn’t secure a single set against a dominant opponent. Meanwhile, Olimpia Sulęcin had an even tougher time, falling 0-3 to MCKiS Jaworzno in a match that showcased the gap between the top and bottom teams in the league.

Match Breakdown:

Astra Nowa Sól vs. ChKS Chełm (0:3) – Sets: 19:25, 28:30, 18:25

  • First Set: ChKS Chełm started strong, quickly gaining a lead (5:2, 7:4). Astra fought back to 12:12, but the visitors took control after 17:17, closing the set 25:19.
  • Second Set: The most competitive set of the match. Chełm led early (8:3, 12:8), but Astra responded, even taking a 23:20 lead. However, they couldn’t finish the job, and after a tense battle, Chełm won 30:28.
  • Third Set: Astra lost momentum after the heartbreak of the second set. Chełm quickly established a 6:2, 8:3 advantage and never looked back, sealing the match with a 25:18 win.

MCKiS Jaworzno vs. Olimpia Sulęcin (3:0) – Sets: 25:17, 25:18, 25:11

  • Olimpia, already resigned to relegation, struggled against third-placed Jaworzno.
  • The first two sets saw Jaworzno take early leads and comfortably maintain control (25:17, 25:18).
  • The third set was completely one-sided, with the hosts dominating 25:11 to secure a 3:0 win.

Both Lubusz teams fought hard, but the quality of their opponents was too much to overcome. Astra will look to bounce back in their next match, while Olimpia faces an uphill battle in the remainder of the season.
